Water Made Holy

Father Ronny is seen here blessing water on the
feast of the Baptism of Jesus in the Jordon River,
also known as "Theophany".
The ceremony is ancient, sacred and rich in symbolism.

Elements representing fire, air and earth

are used to sanctify the water, with each action
repeated three times to honor the Most Holy Trinity.

When the flames of the candles (fire) are extinguished

in the water, we are reminded that, through Baptism,
our souls are washed clean of original sin.

When Father blows on the water (air), we recall
that, in Baptism, we were reborn as Children of God.

Finally, when he reaches his hand into the water (earth)
making the Sign of the Cross, Father brings

"sanctification, healing, cleansing and blessings"
to all who touch it.

This holy water is a sacramental and will be used

throughout the year in all of Father's pastoral ministries.
Next time you are in church, you are welcome
to take a bottle home for your personal use.

Please remember that our Sunday school is
back in session at 10:00 on Sunday, January 12.
Second grade (and older) students
are reminded to bring in their completed
Guardian Angel book take-home assignment.

Thanks, and see you soon.

Love,
Mrs. Plush
