The Fruits of the Holy Spirit are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control! What an amazing list that, when mastered, can lead to a life that rises above circumstances. But it is important for your child to have an understanding of what each of these would look and sound like, so that they can bring meaning to these lofty words.
Here is some questions you might pose to begin a discussion on this matter:
Love - How do I put others first?
Joy - Am I ok with what I have? Am I in the habit of comparing and complaining?
Peace - Do I trust God and put worry in its place?
Patience - Do I choose to wait without upset?
Kindness - How do I treat other people?
Goodness - Do I do what is right? Am I living by God's 10 Commandments and Jesus' Law of Love?
Faithfulness - Do I give up and quit on myself or on God?
Gentleness - Do I care for others when they mess things up?
Self-Control - Do I think before I act or am I impulsive?
As you discuss these questions, consider identifying those that give your family the most trouble and come up with a game plan to improve. Trust that the Holy Spirit will fill you with the power to do great things within your home and outside of it, as you go about Living Jesus!
