"When it comes to life, the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or take them with gratitude." G. K. Chesterton

Temptation

I truly believe that we are still, in some capacity, being tempted to eat the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Instead of just being obedient, we use our minds to come up with rationale to justify doing something other than what would comply with God's Laws or the laws of our church. The more "educated" we become, the more we think we know better.

In keeping with the analogy of a Traffic Light, I have come up with an acronym to describe the CAUTION you should take when you are in the yellow zone facing temptation.  This word helps you identify the thoughts that might pop into your brain to justify making the wrong choice.

C - convenient and quick

A - attention's on me

U - use excuses

T - to stay out of trouble

I - it's not my fault

O - only this one time

N - nobody is looking

Work with your child to process these thoughts. How often are they used? What are their feelings about each? What do you do with these thoughts when they come to mind?  Now try adding to the list.  Are there any excuses that I may have missed?
