"When it comes to life, the critical thing is whether you take things for granted or take them with gratitude." G. K. Chesterton

Repentance

Repentance is a decision to turn away from a particular sin by making up your mind not to repeat the wrong. Think about it as a spiritual u-turn back to God.

Talk about this subject with your child. See if you can work to incorporate a literal turning around whenever you are disciplining your child. For example, they disobey you and acknowledge that they did wrong. Further they both say and feel sorry; ask for your forgiveness and, if possible, will right the wrong that has occurred.

At that point in time, see if you can get them to agree not to do it again. Then have them walk away from you with their back turned. Call out their name, have them face you, and come back to your open arms for a hug as you say, "I love you. Repent and live Jesus!" (or substitute your own words that are feel right to you.)

Perhaps this simple activity will instill in them a habit of learning from their past, and consciously taking steps towards a change for the better. What a life's lesson to have learned at such a young age!
